The short route

The Hunter Vault’s three-symbol door guards an optional treasure room. Activate all three nearby buttons; reaching the Hunter and opening this door are separate goals, so finding the survivor does not mean the puzzle is finished.[1]

Arrive with a way to shoot and a way to grapple

Bring a ranged attack and a Grappling Hook. After the trap section, use the stairs and the locked door with three symbols as your reference point. The routes below describe the documented layout; the primary guide was written during Early Access in January 2024, so this is not a claim of a new 1.0 playtest.[1][2]

Find each button from the main stairs

ButtonLandmarkAction
1 · Stair pillarLook to the right side of the main stairs for the glowing button on a pillar.Hit it with an arrow or spell; do not spend time trying to reach it on foot.
2 · Side chamberFrom the first pillar, check the doorway on the left and the wall to the right inside that route.Find and activate the second button before returning to the main room.
3 · Above the entranceTurn back toward the vault entrance and look above its doorway.Use the ceiling grapple route and the climbable wall on the right to reach the upper position.

These landmark directions are synthesized from the written routes. The third button is easy to miss if you continue looking only beside the locked door. One route describes a glide-to-grapple approach; being able to see an anchor does not necessarily mean it is in range while standing still.[1][2]

Use the door symbols as a completion check

  1. Return to the three-symbol door after every uncertain activation. Count the lit symbols rather than assuming a shot connected.
  2. If one is still unlit, check the entrance-height button first if you have only searched floor-level rooms. Then revisit the side chamber and stair pillar.
  3. Once all three are active, collect the treasure behind this door. Keep it distinct from the additional chest reached from the Hunter room.

The guide also describes another hidden chest using the upper grapple route from the survivor room. It is a separate search; opening the three-button door does not automatically collect both treasures.[1]
