For the Flame level 3 offering, target the Springlands Scavenger Matron at the Hill of Scavengers. The needed progression item is her Helmet; a crafted decorative Matron trophy is a different item.[1][2]

Choose the Springlands target
The source places the Hill of Scavengers northeast of the Springlands Ancient Spire, south of Mistbury Catacombs and southeast of the Farmer’s vault. The Alchemist’s Rumors task marks the area; the approach to the raised hill is described on its east side.[1]
Matrons also appear in later regions. If the only goal is the early Flame offering, do not turn a later-region search result into an unnecessary expedition. Use the fixed Springlands landmarks and the task in your journal.
Reduce the fight to a position you can hold
- Clear nearby Scavengers and wolves before committing to the boss. Otherwise the camp can interrupt the movement you need for the Matron.
- Choose close circling or a ranged position with room to move. Avoid stopping at a distance where her poison spread and close attack both threaten you.
- Watch the poison wind-up and move laterally rather than backing straight through its path. Break off when you cannot see a safe movement lane.
- For ranged play, use reachable cover without pulling so far away that the encounter resets. After the kill, collect the drop before returning to the altar.
These actions condense the community reference’s attack and position notes. They are not a verified no-hit method or a damage-resistance chart; variants and world settings can change how forgiving the fight is.[1]
Check the offering before crafting a decoration
| Your goal | What to check |
|---|---|
| Strengthen the Flame to level 3 | Keep the Scavenger Matron Helmet and compare every required offering in the altar menu. |
| Make a decorative trophy | Treat it as a separate crafting goal; do not assume the trophy replaces the Helmet. |
| The boss is defeated, but the upgrade is unavailable | Check the actual inventory item and the other offerings, including ten Flintstone and ten Shroud Wood. |
The offering list links combat to the material budget. Defeating the Matron solves one part of that list, not all of Flame level 3.[2]
